Feeding your baby right starts before he’s even born. Remember…Healthy foods help make a healthy baby.
The next time you have a snack attack…bite down on a banana ~or~ whole wheat crackers and some cheese. A bowl of raisin Bran and some low fat milk is a healthy choice for you and your growing baby!
Try to cut down on fat…Instead of frying, try baking the chicken, boiling up the potato, steaming those veggies. Try smoked turkey instead of salami or bologna. Non-fat or lowfat milk instead of whole milk (there is even more calcium in the non-fat milk!)
Stay away from salt…Choose fresh or frozen veggies over canned. Use garlic powder or celery powder instead of salt. Buy sodium reduced
soups…better still…make your own!
Eat less sugar…pick fresh fruit over canned or frozen. Buy jam and jellies with less or no sugar. Buy fruit in it’s own juice instead of syrup if it is canned.

Quench your thirst! Your baby needs 8-10 glasses of water a day. Water is best (you can add a slice of lemon or orange or a bit of juice if you don’t like it plain). Soda will only fill you up with empty calories…it will not help your baby grow. The sugar in it will give you a big rush~followed by a big drop…like putting your baby on a roller coaster. Stick to water, milk or 100% fruit juice.
Try new things…now is the time to try some different fruits and veggies that you haven’t tried before. Try whole wheat bread and crackers. A different kind of bean. Vary the food you eat
Be careful…You do not want to eat any raw fish (sushi is out) or eggs. Cook your meat and chicken until they are well done (not rare). Stick to milk and juices and cheese that says “pasteurized”. Heat leftovers before you eat them.
