The end zone….

Eager to see your feet again? Desperate to sleep on your stomach — or just

plain desperate to sleep?

Tired of those midnight (and 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. and 4 a.m.) bathroom runs? Welcome to the end zone — the point in your pregnancy where time seems to slow down, and the waiting becomes interminable (especially if your nine-month pregnancy is now entering your tenth month).

Looking for something to do while you wait for the magic moment of childbirth?(besides bite the nails on your twiddling thumbs)?

Pass the time productively by getting as much done as you can before the big day (or night) arrives.

Here are a few last-minute details you’ll want to check off your list before the big day.

  • Come take a class with us…Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Indian River medical Center. What better way to prepare, calm your nerves and commune with other pregnant mom’s!
  • Clean and resock your fridge….Out with the old, in with the new! As you prepare for birth, throw away any outdated items and shop for fresh ones. Stock up on key essentials you’ll want to have on hand once the baby has arrived — milk, yogurt, cheese, juice, prewashed salad greens, fruit and even a roasted chicken or two (perfect for meals, snacks and salads). And if baby doesn’t come this week — restock again next week.



  • Pad your pantry. Stock up on staples like there’s no tomorrow (there will be a tomorrow, you just won’t be able to spend it at the grocery store once baby’s around). Easy does it when you’re a new mom, so line your shelves with every healthy convenience you can think of, from soups (they can stand in for lunch when you barely have time to sit) to nuts (the perfect nutritious nibbler, particularly when teamed with dried fruit). Other goods to get as you prepare for birth: whole-grain crackers and cereal, canned beans, fruits and vegetables, pasta, brown rice, sauces.


  • Have patience. This beautiful little being will come when he/she is ready. Remember that the baby’s brain grows the fastest at the end of your pregnancy, give them every advantage.
